Food Storage consists of a lot of different elements. We have briefly talked about a few of them such as fuel, food storage, home storage items, etc. So today we will discuss why we need long term home storage and food storage.
Long term storage is what most consider storing items and food and water for up to 1 year or more. So how many of you really think that you need to do this? I believe that we all should be able to provide for our family in a time of crisis. Now a crisis could be mother nature, an upset in production and supply, or a loss of job, and let me tell you it takes almost a month to get your severance package. That is a long time if you live paycheck to paycheck. It was a huge relief that I had some food storage. It made a really difficult time for my family, a little less stressful as I didn’t need to worry about feeding the kids.
That is why I truly believe that everyone should be prepared for anything. With today’s economy it is a smart thing to start getting prepared. You never know what may happen and when your home storage comes in handy. So Stocking up on all of these items we have told you about, may seem a little crazy but in the long run it will be worth its weight in gold.
Long term food storage, why we need it
For a lot of people who believe the end of the world as we know it they want to be able to survive and rebuild as the world would be sent back to the stone ages where there is no electricity. How many of you have ever visited a Old time living attraction (Old Sturbridge Village)? It is where you can go and see how people lived in the olden days without modern conveniences. I would recommend anyone who has never been to one to go and check it out. It will remind you that once we lived off the grid and we were quite happy about it. The Amish still live like that, they have a few modern conveniences.
Have you ever unplugged on National Turn Off Your TV For The Week? I suggest you try it once and see how well your family will endure and handle no electricity. Also get up and out and practice your survival skills, the easiest skill maybe the one that you can’t do under pressure or in the rain and without it could cost you your life. So for all who really are interested in emergency preparedness, and survival be it urban or wilderness should make time, and use these tools to create your own personal family emergency survival plans.
But back to Long term Storage. Many people ask why should I do it? With the world and technology as it is many feel that nothing could happen that would make having a long term storage important. Then you look back to the earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and the civil wars in other countries, and see what they have to deal with and you know what? Those who did have long term storage didn’t have to worry about safe drinking water and where to get food to feed their families.
